TWO
DAY KANGAROO ISLAND TOURS - WILDLIFE & WILDLAND
DAY ONE of this tour will take the visitor to one of
Kangaroo Island's lagoons where bird life abounds. Close
by, guests will be able to view Koalas in their natural
environment. The tour will then proceed to Seal Bay
Conservation Park where you will be given a personally
guided tour through the colony. A gourmet lunch will be
served at Vivonne Bay, a South Coast treasure with crystal
water and white sand.
Malcolm will
then take you to Pioneer Bend, a private property where
koalas can be seen along the river valley. Echidnas and
kangaroos are also often seen in this area. The tour
proceeds to Lathami Conservation Park where Wallabies,
Kangaroos and often the rare Glossy Black Cockatoo can be
seen in the casuarina forests.
Return to The Lookout for dinner and then a nocturnal tour
of the Penguin colony in Penneshaw.
DAY TWO will
take guests to the western end of Kangaroo Island with a
brief diversion to view Pennington Bay, a magnificent
coastal expanse and also to the Little Sahara Desert where
the energetic guest can climb one of the soaring dunes or
just marvel at the landscape.
Once in the
Flinders Chase National Park, our guests can visit the
wonderful Interpretative Centre where the Island’s flora
and fauna and natural history are presented in innovative
and creative displays.
Our visitors
will then be guided to the New Zealand Fur Seal colony at
Admirals Arch at the extreme south west tip of Kangaroo
Island. Here there is ample opportunity to observe the
animals in their spectacular natural environment. Guests
then proceed to the Remarkable Rocks where they can wander
around, between and over these granite monoliths.
A gourmet
lunch will be served in the Park and the guests will have
the opportunity to view some of Kangaroo Island's wildlife
including Kangaroos, Wallabies, Koalas and Cape Barren
Geese. A trip to the Platypus viewing area may just allow
the lucky visitor to view this fascinating but elusive
creature.
The Kangaroo
Island tour will then proceed to Grassdale, an old
abandoned farm, now administered by National Parks and a
haven for the Kangaroo.
