The Lookout
Property covers about 6½ acres (2.5 ha) and the house
and apartment is set in about 1 acre of landscaped gardens
with spectacular views across Backstairs Passage to
the Fleurieu Peninsula.

|
 |
|
The apartment
overlooks a paved patio with weeping willows and fishponds
and the view beyond.

There are
several interconnected gardens with rose arbours, ponds
and streams, a bonsai garden, secluded walkways, an
orchard and veggie patch, all waiting to be explored.
|
|
 |
|
The gardens
are largely a mixture of cool temperate plants and include
Australian natives interspersed with shrubs, perennials
and warm temperate and Mediterranean plantings. English
roses feature in several areas of the garden.

The remainder
of the property is planted with many native species
and also has two dams, one given over to water lilies
and the other used as the water storage for the summer
watering of the garden.

A large
shade house protects more delicate plantings including
palms, ferns, bromeliads and begonias. There is also
a colony of white fantail doves in the garden.

Our guests are
encouraged to explore the garden and the rest of the property.
It is possible for the energetic to walk out across Bald Hill
in front of the property and climb down to Cuttlefish bay,
a small but delightful sandy beach.
